Platteville, Wisconsin – This spring, Rountree Gallery proudly presents two exceptional exhibitions that celebrate artistic vision, life, and the beauty that surrounds us.
Roger Gottschalk Retrospective
On the main level, visitors will discover Roger Gottschalk Retrospective, honoring the life and work of Roger Gottschalk (1932–2023), a prolific artist and beloved educator who inspired generations. Influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Cubism, Gottschalk’s abstract paintings feature interlocking geometric and organic forms, rendered in rich color and movement. His work invites viewers into a world where form, color, and emotion collide.
The exhibit also includes prints and lithographs exploring surreal, dreamlike spaces populated by enigmatic figures and fantastical creatures. Gottschalk’s lifelong passion for music, philosophy, and the human condition shines through his work—each piece a meditation on the absurdity, ambiguity, and wonder of being alive.
Chelsey Walker: The Natural World Around Us
On the second floor, Rountree Gallery presents The Natural World Around Us, a stunning photography exhibit by Madison-based artist Chelsey Walker. Through macro and abstract images of flowers, plants, and insects, Walker captures the delicate intricacy and vibrancy of the natural world.
Each photograph offers a unique perspective, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the elegance and mystery of nature that often goes unnoticed. Walker’s work is both a celebration and a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us—and the importance of preserving it.
Chelsey Walker is an award-winning floral-inspired artist whose work has appeared in galleries, homes, and businesses nationwide. She also offers workshops and creative services throughout the Midwest.
