Articles

We are looking to build a team of arts writers. We are currently seeking arts writers from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

We accept articles (475 words max) on visual arts and design-related topics that have a connection to our region. Articles can range from an introduction to an artist-run space, an artist, artist project, design studio, non-profit arts organization, or something else you think could benefit our readership.

We are open to pitches from arts writers at all skill levels and experiences.

We pay $125 per selected article for print only.

Rolling Submissions for Exhibition Reviews

Artdose is seeks submissions for exhibition reviews to be published online. Reviews may feature exhibitions or art events in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Reviews must be submitted a minimum of three weeks prior to the end of the featured exhibition or event. Suggested length is 500-700 words.

Authors must supply images with captions and credits.

We are open to pitches from arts writers at all skill levels and experiences.

We pay $50 per review for online only.

AI Policy on Submissions

We believe writers should be independently researching, interviewing, and ideating their own work, and that’s all simply part of the writing process. The writer’s voice is important to us and our readership.

AI can be used as an assistive tool for light grammar, condensing, or paraphrasing. The magazine’s policy prohibits generative AI that creates articles and ideas entirely from scratch. Writers should exercise agency over the finished content.

Pitches are reviewed as they come in. An author will be notified if the pitch is selected within 24 hours.

We do not publish reviews in our print publication.

Articles and reviews published in Artdose cannot be republished on other platforms or in other publications.

Articles are not eligible if they are

• submitting on behalf of an organization, institution, business, design firm, collective, or gallery.

• writing on their own practice or business.

• submitting to publish Q&A interviews.
