Fish Creek, Wisconsin – Door County Contemporary plans to host thousands of fine art enthusiasts from around Wisconsin and the United States. The fair will host 20 galleries, site-specific art programming, guest art speakers, guided tours, Wisconsin-based food and drink, and curated VIP events for 250 special guests at the Peninsula School of Art, 3900 County Road F, Fish Creek, WI 54212, from June 5 – 8, 2025.
Door County Contemporary will be more than an art fair, it will be a three-day celebration of art and ideas, featuring cutting-edge art alongside the best of Wisconsin’s cultural offerings. All of it set against the backdrop of one of America’s greatest settings–a brilliant contrast of perspectives that will make this a memorable and enduring cultural event to kick off summer.
This project is the brainchild of 4 Milwaukee art professionals– Josh Hintz, Shane McAdams, Shane Walsh, and Jaymee Harvey Wilms–who sought a way to connect the Wisconsin regional art world to the world beyond. After sharing stories of weekends in Door County, they arrived at a mutual agreement that Door County possesses a surprising absence of contemporary art, yet it’s one of the most visited sites in the state by non-Wisconsinites, many of whom are hungry for more advanced art offerings. Hintz and McAdams both run art galleries of their own in Milwaukee–Var and Real Tinsel, respectively–and felt that all the pieces were in place to bring a high-quality contemporary art fair to Door County for the first time, connecting the regional art world with visitors and art enthusiasts from around the country.
