When Artdose Art Guide was created in 2013, I never imagined it would become an art magazine, let alone celebrate 10 years. Reaching this milestone, presented the opportunity to do some reflecting, goal setting, and visioning for the next 10 years. I knew going into 2023, I wanted to expand Artdose to include voices from our neighboring states, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota, continue to recruit more arts writers, expand our services, and help develop new arts programming and partnerships.

As a small business, we have learned over the years that success is built on collaboration, partnerships, transparency, and inclusivity. Artdose has always been an affordable and accessible publication for anyone to participate in. I love that! We are not driven by profit. We are driven by the creative people we work with and the relationships we continue to build. That inspires us!

I would like to thank our advertisers, artists, and our contributing writers.

As we close this year, we would like to say thank you for your continued support!

Below is a snapshot of what we have been up to in 2023.

Artist Directory

Since the beginning, our goal has been to feature an artist’s work on our cover. After publishing 33 issues since 2013, we wanted to try something new – a perfect bound artist directory. This directory features the work of 62 regional artists. A great resource to add regional art to your collection.

Artdose Editions

This year we launched our very own Artdose Editions. We invited Rachel Hausmann Schall as our inaugural artist. Her print, “In Fourths” commemorated our 10th anniversary with a limited-edition screen print. Artdose Magazine believes in supporting art-centered businesses and designing initiatives that support local and regional artists. This year we collaborated with Anchor Press, Paper, and Print located inside the House of RAD in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“Hausmann Schall’s “In Fourths” screen printed at AP3, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Limited quantities still available.

Partnerships

Business of Art Symposium at NWTC Artisan & Business Center. Photo: Artdose Magazine.

We partnered with NWTC Artisan & Business Center to bring a business of art symposium to Green Bay. The one-day event brought artists from Northeast and Southeast Wisconsin. Our presenters shared their experiences and expertise ranging from being a young artist/entrepreneur to writing effective proposals and how to make a living from public art to the importance of branding your creative business.

Top Row: Sonia Vazquez, Nehemiah Edwards, Liala Amin; Bottom Row: Hector Acuna, Celeste Contreras, Frank Juárez.

We partnered with the John Michael Kohler Arts Center to create an emerging artist program in tandem with their Midsummer Festival of the Arts. This cohort invited BIPOC artists from Northeast and Southeast Wisconsin. Featured artists were Hector Acuna, Liala Amin, Celeste Contreras, Nehemiah Edwards, and Sonia Vazquez.

Sponsorships

We continue to show our support through sponsorship. This year we sponsored the Grilled Cheese Grant and the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass’ GLASS Arts Festival.

Jurying & Advisory Boards

Juárez has been invited as a juror for several juried exhibitions and advisory boards.
