Janesville, Wisconsin – Returning Art Infusion artist Ivan Roque of Miami, FL found inspiration for the large-scale wall mural he will be creating during the eleventh annual Art Infusion in Janesville native, Carrie Jacob Bond’s most famous song, “I Love You Truly.”

Bond, born in Janesville in 1862, was a composer of popular music from the 1890s through the early 1940s and is perhaps best remembered for writing the song “I Love You Truly.” The song has been sung at weddings for decades and was recorded by numerous artists. It has sold over one million copies and is one of the earliest songs composed by a woman to achieve that distinction. Bonds also started her own sheet music publishing company, and published books of poetry as well as creating the artwork for her sheet music cover pages.

Roque’s mural will be added to the back side (facing the river) of the Hodge Podge Place building at 14 S Water St, September 9 – 11, 2022. It will incorporate features that pay homage to Bond and the song, including a female cardinal with red roses and a butterfly that represents the freedom that music brings to us.
