Platteville, WI — Ripple Artspace will present two new exhibitions this fall featuring the work of Southwest Wisconsin artists Richard Moninski of Mineral Point and Shad Williams of Madison. Littoral by Moninski will be on view in the Main Gallery, while Williams’ Metals in Flux will be featured in the Upper Space Gallery. The exhibitions run October 1 through November 14, 2026, with an Artist Reception on Friday, October 2, from 4–7 p.m. at Ripple Artspace, 120 W. Main Street in Platteville.
Richard Moninski: Littoral
Moninski’s Littoral is an ongoing series combining digital and traditional painting, inspired by an artist residency on Cuttyhunk Island, off the Massachusetts coast. The series explores the intertidal zone—the constantly shifting space where ocean and land meet.
Through contrasting colors, textures, and changes in scale, Moninski transforms the original imagery into layered and expressive compositions. Rather than presenting a detached view of the shoreline, the paintings seek to capture the experience of walking along the beach, where attention continually shifts between what is nearby and what lies in the distance.
Shad Williams: Metals in Flux
In the Upper Space Gallery, Madison artist Shad Williams presents Metals in Flux, a creative journey that explores the melding of wood and metal. Williams describes the work as moving “from Fantasy to Craftsman and into modern styles,” inviting viewers to follow that progression while allowing their own imaginations to run wild.
The resulting work reflects Williams’ interest in the possibilities created when different materials, styles, and ideas come together. Metals in Flux will be on view alongside Richard Moninski’s Littoral from October 1 through November 14.
The public is invited to meet the artists at the Artist Reception on Friday, October 2, from 4–7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibitions will remain on view through November 14. Ripple Artspace is open Thursdays and Fridays from 4–7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
