Ryan Myers: Who Gives a Flock?
Ryan Myers received an MFA degree in 2005 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison after completing his bachelor’s degree in fine arts and art education from Viterbo University La Crosse, WI. A lifelong resident of the state, Myers work in clay feels universal. Toys, Latin American ceramics, architecture, our human relationship with the environment, and the American folk face jug tradition started by early American potters, influence his ceramics. Those influences are why his work appears timeless. In this new body of work, Myers delves into his ongoing interest in bird imagery adding his own perspective to the long history of artists who have been fascinated by these winged creatures.
Group Show: Cup Show
The cup is a wonderful form that on a modest scale reflects the style of each individual makers distinctive hand. In no. 5: You Cannot Rest Here by Emma Hitzman
Emma Hitzman is a multidisciplinary artist raised in the rural Midwest whose practice has been shaped by her longstanding connection to Northeast Wisconsin, where she has lived and worked for most of her career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts with a minor in Arts Management, emphasizing Gallery and Museum Practices, from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay in 2016.
Working primarily through photography, Hitzman’s practice investigates themes of dormancy, cyclical transformation, and the subtle rhythms that exist between presence and absence. Her work explores the quiet intervals of change found in both organic and virtual ecologies, examining how natural systems and digital environments alike undergo periods of latency, renewal, and imperceptible evolution. Through carefully constructed imagery, she considers the ways landscapes, technologies, and memory preserve traces of what has been, while anticipating what is yet to emerge.
