Wausau, Wisconsin – The Center for the Visual Arts will host a reception on Saturday, May 21 from 5 -7 p.m. for two new exhibits that opened earlier this month. The Caroline S. Mark Gallery is currently displaying the Pulp: Paper, Print and Wood exhibit and the Vault Gallery is currently displaying the Touch with your Eyes exhibit. These shows run through July 2, 2022 in the CVA galleries on the 400 Block in Wausau.

Pulp: Paper, Print and Wood was created to shine a light on underrepresented mediums and modes of making. The exhibition features printmaking, all manners of paper arts, wood art/craft, and basketry. This exhibit features art pieces juried by Mark Brueggeman, a local artist and art studio operator, and former UW-Stevens Point professor of art and design.

Touch with your Eyes is a tantalizing exhibition filled with artwork that you will want to touch. Featuring textured sculptures, fabric pieces and paintings, for which patrons are invited to use their eyes to imagine what it might be like to lay your hands on them. This exhibit includes invited artists selected to create a show which captures a range of unique textures meant to be seen – not touched.

The public is invited to join the artists of these two shows in celebrating their work and expression at this upcoming reception. Awards will be given for the Pulp exhibit for the best of show as juried by Mr. Brueggeman. The CVA would like to thank Rib Mountain Paper, LLC. for sponsoring these awards, in addition to Kolbe Windows & Doors and the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin for sponsoring these respective exhibits.
