Two Exhibitions Open Summer Season at newARTSpace

De Pere, Wisconsin – The Storefront Gallery at newARTSpace turns over to the Wisconsin Visual Artists Northeast Chapter to host their members juried show ART at LARGE.  Founded in 1900, the WVA is Wisconsin’s oldest arts organization was created by artists for artists to champion and connect artists across the entire state. This year’s exhibition was juried by one of Wisconsin’s most notable contemporary artists, the painter Craig Blietz of Sister Bay.

ART at LARGE highlights the work of 12 artists from Northeastern Wisconsin creating works that are larger than 2 feet in the smallest dimension. Artists represented in ART at LARGE include Christine Style (Green Bay), Debra Davis-Crabbe (Two Rivers), Debra Lee Hellwig (Fond du Lac), Diane Canfield Bywaters (Stevens Point), Gary L. Gossens (Kimberly), Jan Mirenda Smith (Neenah), Jean Judd (Cushing), Kathryn Wedge (Neenah), Mari Anna Chism (Sheyboygan), Pat Bishop (Shawano), Suzette Pfiefer (Green Bay), Tania Nelson (Green Bay).

Running concurrently in the Sidedoor Gallery is a feature show of the artwork of the juror, Craig Blietz. His masterful and uncanny depictions of cows, goats and other farm animals as they parade across his large-scale canvases are pure pleasure to behold. Creatures Of Wonder (COW) offers a tightly curated selection of Blietz’s studio practice sharing examples of his preliminary drawings and colored studies along with completed works.

The exhibitions will run from run from June 7 – July 20, 2024. The opening reception is June 7th from 5-7 pm with a Juror’s talk and awards delivered by Craig Blietz at 6 pm. June 7th also marks the first Art & Music Night for the summer sponsored by Definitely De Pere

Visiting the galleries at newARTSpace at 124 N. Broadway, Ste. A, in De Pere is always free and open to everybody.
