Downtown Mural Walk
Meet outside Paradigm Coffee + Music, 1202 N.8th Street
11 am – 1 pm
Join us for a walk downtown Sheboygan, learn about the history of our city’s murals, and hear from two muralists, Dale Knaak and Jessica Rassel, as they share their stories about their murals, inspiration, and creative process.
About Dale Knaak

I have been painting murals for more than twenty years. In the year 2000 I was employed by a company to create murals for a variety of clients, traveling across the country to do onsite projects. This experience led me to create many murals over the course of the past twenty four years. In 2005 the mural department was eliminated for financial reasons. This began my career transition as a full time, independent artist. A work in progress.
My murals are designed to engage the audience, create a human connection, captivate the imagination, and enhance the surroundings, while making the community a meaningful place to be a part of.
Murals can impact communities and its surroundings in a positive way.

About Jessica Rassel
Jessica Rassel is a Wisconsin based artist inspired by the cycles of nature and the impact of color on our well-being. As a muralist and art business owner since 2011, Jessica collaborates with local and national clients to artfully deliver their vision. Specialized in illustration, graphic design, and painting murals; Jessica (in true 90’s kid form) balances both traditional and digital medium to create a diverse range of projects. Local works include The Whale Mural at Above and Beyond Children’s Museum and most recently the 150 Year Anniversary Mural at Vollrath.

About the Artist Talk
Join artist-in-residence Martha Poggioli for an artist talk and casting workshop rounding out her residency in the Arts Center’s Workplace exhibition gallery.
Poggioli will introduce her work and lead a workshop during which you can cast your own body parts. Her recent work asks the question “what constitutes a body?” Drawing upon her personal experience working in the medical device industry, Poggioli critically explores our understandings of health, science, and our own bodies. She is a two-time Arts/Industry residency alumnus, and her work was featured recently in the Arts Center’s Clocking In exhibition.
After the talk, enjoy viewing all the galleries until 8:00 p.m. as the Arts Center will stay open later than usual for Sheboygan Gallery Night!

Seek & Expose Photo Hunt with Pat Ryan Photography
Meet outside Paradigm Coffee + Music, 1202 N. 8th Street at 11am. We will be located in the Uptown Parklet.
This event runs from 11 am- 1 pm
This is led by photographer, Pat Ryan. All levels and cameras are welcome.

About Seek & Expose Photo Hunt
What is Seek and Expose Photography? It is a gathering of people with an interest in photography. All skill levels, cameras, and phones are excepted. You don’t have to know what a f-stop is or shutter speed. Just show up and have fun. The purpose is to have a social gathering to learn and have fun.
The theme is “Hidden Gems”. What is a hidden gem? It’s something that some people may walk by or not see an object that potentially has photographic value. This could be a design on a garbage bin, rubbish on the sidewalk, interesting leaf arrangements, objects in a window or display, etc. Photos can be color or black and white.
A Seek and Expose Photography page has been created on Facebook for this event. All you have to do is like or follow Seek and Expose Photography and post five of your favorite photos to the page by September 20th.
