Sun Prairie, WI – The second annual Sun Prairie Mural Fest will transform downtown Sun Prairie into a vibrant outdoor gallery as nine large-scale murals are painted on downtown buildings from June 22-27. Chosen from 190 applicants worldwide, this year’s artists represent a dynamic mix of Wisconsin-based talent and international muralists. The weeklong celebration begins with community events on Thursday, June 18 and culminates with the Mural Fest Block Party & Reveal from 10am – 2pm Saturday, June 27. Featured artists are Emily Balsley, Kiba Freeman, Mayela Finol, Alexia Folkman, Brittany Johnson, Floyd Mendoza, Valentin Ramirez, Hannah Webb, and Wingchow.
Visitors are invited to watch murals come to life throughout the week, explore downtown shops and restaurants, and participate in a variety of family-friendly and interactive events leading up to the Block Party & Reveal.
“The inaugural Sun Prairie Mural Fest was a tremendous success,” said Tiffany Schultz, Tourism Director for Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce. “We’re excited to welcome the artists to Sun Prairie and showcase their creativity while continuing to enhance the experience for everyone who lives, works, and visits our vibrant downtown. Public art brings creativity into shared spaces where everyone can experience it, creating opportunities for connection, inspiration, and community pride while adding to the unique character of Sun Prairie.”
The June 27 Block Party & Reveal will provide visitors with opportunities to meet the artists while enjoying live music, food trucks, local vendors, art activities, and specials from downtown businesses.
