Artists Sunday at Rountree Gallery, Platteville

Frank Juarez

On Sunday, November 28th, fellow photographer, Pat Ryan, and I visited Rountree Gallery in downtown Platteville to view their current exhibition, Teeny, Tiny, BOLD. This is the second time I have visited the gallery since the summer. For a small community, the not-for-profit gallery introduces quite the range of traditional and contemporary works. I wanted to see the work that I selected for the gallery’s first regional art exhibition. 60 works (no larger than 12 x 12 inches)of art graces the gallery walls ranging from $100 to $1,000. It was great to see familiar artists’ names and learn of new artists.

With the holidays in full swing there are a variety of campaigns hitting inboxes and social media feeds such as Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday. Now, there is Artists Sunday. I have to admit, I first heard about Artists Sunday about a week ago. Like many of us, I joined in. The overall experience leading to this day felt more like a movement to support creativity and the (art) community rather than a dedicated day for shopping. Turns out Artists Sunday originated in Texas in 2020 and has swept the entire country bringing artists, not-for-profits, commercial galleries and businesses together.

Below are works available for purchase. For inquiries contact Rountree Gallery here.
